Coping with PDF files

If you have Acrobat Reader and web plug-in installed, then clicking on the PDF link should start Acrobat Reader and show the PDF in your browser (there may be a slight delay while Acrobat Reader starts). There will be an extra set of icons at the top of the browser window which will look something like this...

Example Acrobat tool bar

Your icons may appear in a different order, but they are essentially the same. Clicking the floppy disk icon (as shown above) will allow you to save the PDF to your computer for offline use. Just remember where you saved them!

If you would prefer to save the files first and read/print them later, don't just click the link - do one of the following:

Windows

Windows Explorer:

Right-click the link and select Save target as...

We've only shown Explorer as virtually no-one uses Netscape on the Windows platform any more - which is a pity.

If you are using a different browser under Windows - the principal should be the same.

Apple Mac

Mac Netscape 4.7

Control click the link and select Save this link as...

Mac Mozilla 1, Netscape 6 & 7

Control click the link and select Save link target as...

Mac Explorer 5.x

Control click the link and select Download link to disk...

As in the first example - remember where you save the files so that you can find them again! A small file can so easily be lost on a large hard drive.

PDF's may look a little fuzzy on screen, but they are built using the same language that laser printers speak (PostScript) so whether you're using a laser printer or an inkjet, the print quality will be just fine.
